Scan a card
Digitize a paper business card to automatically create a contact (Prospecting module).
Prospecting lets you photograph a paper business card: ECARD automatically extracts the details (OCR) and creates a contact in your list. Ideal at a trade show or after a meeting.
How it works
- Go to the scan page and enter your email.
- You receive a scan link by email (valid for 1 hour).
- Open the link, then photograph the business card (or import a photo from your phone).
- ECARD reads the text, structures it (name, email, phone, job title, company) and creates the contact in your list.
- Check and correct the extracted fields if needed, then save.
Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF (up to 10 MB).
A screenshot of the capture screen, with the framing guide, helps the user position the card correctly.
Example
At a trade show you receive 30 business cards. Rather than re-typing them in the evening, you open your scan link and photograph each card on the fly: all 30 contacts appear in Contacts, ready to be tagged and exported.
Good to know
- The contact is attached to you (the owner of the scan).
- Recognition depends on photo quality: frame the card well, lay it flat, avoid glare and grazing light.
- Always check the extracted fields before saving — OCR can misread a name or a number.
Troubleshooting
- OCR extracts nothing / gets it wrong → retake the photo with better framing and lighting, or fill in the fields manually.
- The scan link no longer works → it expires after 1 hour; request a new one from the scan page.
- You don't receive the link email → check your spam folder (see Troubleshooting).
The scan feature ("Prospecting" module) is an optional module depending on your plan. It is subject to a usage limit (number of scans per hour).
