ECARD's key terms explained simply.
This glossary gathers the terms you'll come across in ECARD and in this documentation. Each definition links to the matching detailed section; if you're unsure about a step, see also troubleshooting.
Organization & team
Organization — Your main account (your company). It groups all users, templates, contacts and settings. Billing is managed at this level. See Organization & team.
Space — A sub-unit of an organization (subsidiary, branch, department) that partitions users, templates and permissions. See Spaces.
User — A person in your organization who carries a card, a profile page, a signature or a wallet.
Profile — A user's digital record (name, job title, company, phone numbers, social links…). This data feeds the public page, the vCard, the signature and the wallet.
Administrator — A person with access to the dashboard, holding a role (Owner, Administrator, Manager, Member, Viewer). See Users & roles.
Entity — A brand or department with its own visual identity (logo, colors), useful when several brands coexist.
Group — A set of users (by team, department, site) used for targeting (assigning a template/an order to a whole group).
Tag — A free-form label to segment users and contacts.
Cards & sharing
NFC card — A physical chip-enabled business card: held near a smartphone, it opens the chosen content. See NFC Cards.
Card mode — What the card does when scanned: Profile (public page), Link (URL), vCard (contact file), Default (organization setting).
Named / anonymous card — Named = pre-assigned to a person before printing; anonymous = activated by any user with their email.
Activation — The step that links a received card to a profile and makes it work. See Activate a card.
Profile page — A user's public web page, shared by card, QR or link. See Profile page.
vCard (.vcf file) — A standard contact record you can save into your address
book in one tap. See vCard.
Wallet — The digital version of the card in Apple Wallet / Google Wallet. See Wallet.
Wallet mode — As with the card, what the wallet's QR does when scanned (Profile, Link, vCard, Default), resolved at scan time. See Modes & QR.
QR code — A scannable code pointing to a profile or a link.
Contact form — A form shown on a profile page to capture a visitor, who then becomes a contact. See Contact form.
Content & marketing
Template — A shared, reusable layout (profile page, card, signature, wallet, vCard) that ensures brand consistency.
Email signature — A consistent signature inserted into emails, powered by variables. See Email signatures.
Variable — A dynamic field (e.g. {{user.firstName}}) replaced with each
user's real information.
Campaign — A scheduled marketing banner, shown on signatures, profile pages and wallets. See Campaigns.
Contact — A person captured via a profile form, a card scan, a manual add or an import. See Contacts.
Tracking & integrations
Statistics — Engagement measurement (views, scans, clicks). See Statistics.
Integration — A connection to a third-party tool (Microsoft Entra, Outlook add-in, webhooks). See Integrations.
Microsoft Entra ID — Microsoft's directory (formerly Azure AD) from which ECARD can synchronize your users.
Webhook — An automatic call to a URL when an event occurs (e.g. a new contact) to feed a CRM or an automation.
Account & subscription
Account — Your personal access (identity, sign-in, security), managed under Personal settings. Distinct from the profile (card data). See Account & security.
Plan — Your organization's ECARD package: it determines the available modules and the number of users included. See Subscription.
Module — A feature that can be enabled depending on the plan (signatures, wallet, campaigns…). A missing section is often a module that isn't included.
Card credit — A unit consumed when ordering an NFC card. See Subscription.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) — A second check at sign-in, on top of the password. See Two-factor authentication.
