NFC Cards

An ECARD NFC card is a physical business card fitted with a chip. When you tap it against a smartphone (or scan its QR code), it instantly opens the content you've chosen — with no app to install.

A card's 4 modes

The behavior when scanned depends on the card's mode:

Mode	When scanned, the card…
Profile	opens the user's public profile page
Link	redirects to a custom URL
vCard	offers the contact file (.vcf) to save
Default	applies the organization's default mode

The organization's default mode is set under NFC Cards. Each card can then override this setting individually.

Example: your organization defaults to Profile mode. For a trade-show booth, you switch one specific card to Link mode pointing to an event registration page, without changing the global setting.

Personalized or anonymous cards

Personalized: the card is pre-assigned to a specific user before printing (their name appears on the card).
Anonymous: the card is assigned to no one; the recipient activates it themselves with their email.

A card's life cycle

Design a card template.
Order your cards.
On arrival, activate each card to link it to a profile.
The card is now working: every scan opens the destination set by its mode.
If lost, see Lost card.

A delivered card isn't working yet: it must first be activated. See Activate a card.

Good to know

The card and the profile are independent. You can switch cards without losing your public page or the contacts already collected.
The QR code is a universal fallback. Even without NFC, a camera scanning the QR on the back opens the same destination.
The mode can be changed at any time after activation, from NFC Cards.

Troubleshooting

My card does nothing when I tap the phone → NFC turned off, a thick case, or tapping too quickly. See Card troubleshooting.
The scan opens the wrong page → check the card's mode and URL.
The page opens as a "private profile" → see the page visibility.
