Profile page
Page visibility
Control who can access your profile page and whether it shows up in search results.
Every profile page has a visibility level that controls its search indexing (whether it appears in search engines) and its access (who can open it).
The three levels
| Level | Indexing | Direct access |
|---|---|---|
| Public | Indexed by search engines | Open to everyone |
| Unlisted | Not indexed | Open to everyone via the link |
| Private | Not indexed | Restricted: only opens from a card, wallet, signature or vCard |
When to use which
- Public: you want to be findable online (the general public can find you through a search).
- Unlisted: you share the link yourself, without appearing in searches. Ideal for controlled sharing, without indexing.
- Private: the page should only open through your ECARD assets (card, QR, wallet, signature). A direct hit on the link shows an unavailable message.
Setting visibility
- Open the relevant profile page template.
- Find the visibility setting (public / unlisted / private).
- Pick the level you want and save.
Visibility is set on the profile page template, not on each user individually.
Example
You're equipping a sales team with NFC cards, but you don't want those pages surfacing in Google. Set the template to unlisted: each rep shares their link during a meeting, without the page showing up in searches.
For a page strictly reserved for card scans (no "bare" link sharing), choose private.
Good to know
- Moving a page from public to unlisted or private removes it from indexing, but a search engine may take time to reflect this.
- Visibility doesn't affect updates: the page stays fed by the profile whatever level you choose.
Troubleshooting
- My page shows "unavailable" when I open the link directly: it's set to private — that's the expected behavior. Open it via a card, wallet or signature, or switch it to unlisted.
- My page still appears in Google even though I set it to private: de-indexing by search engines can take time. See Troubleshooting.
